VERSION 3.0 - RELEASED : January 31, 2005Following several months of on-site validation, Version 3.0 is officially released. Version 3.0 of Synexsys Inventory / Asset Management / Helpdesk is considered a major evolution. Important functionalities have been added to obtain an advanced asset management. Also, the interface has been reviewed in order to provide increased ergonomy and ease of use. Preliminary input of PC data - Synexsys now supports the manual creation of a PC BEFORE actually auditing it with Synexsys Inventory. The technical information that will be collected during the first audit will be automatically merged with the data entered manually. New managament of files audits! Synexsys files audits are now based on the "Global Files' Reference" which keep track of all the files that have been found in your company. Thanks to this Reference, the agent only has to analyse the newly discovered files. This drastically reduces the files audits time and the volumes of data transferred to the server. Import Module - With the new Synexsys Import module, you can import virtually any type of external data in a fully automatic process. You may use SXSimport to retrieve existing databases (PCs, printers, telephones and any other kind of assets) or to make regular updates to the Synexsys database (importing users, services, sites, etc.). Management of any kind of assets (Objects) - Synexsys 2.0 already allowed creating all types of "Configurations". The new version of Synexsys Asset Management goes even further. From now on, we will handle Objects, and each will have their own icon in order to streamline their management. The list of Objects can also be filtered by clicking on the "Objects" title bar. Links Between Objects - Objects can now be linked to each other. For instance, an Object called "User" can be owner of an Object called "PC". A "Printer" can belong to a "Leasing Contract". Both of them being Objects as well. Etc, etc. This is an extremely important functionality, since management possibilities are practically unlimited. You may use the "Basket" on the status bar to temporarily load Objects and later place them in the "Belongs to..." or "...is the owner of" areas of the "Links" tab of a target Object. Customisable "Summary" Tab - In Inventory / Objects, the right side of the window displays by default a new tab named "Summary". This tab contains a set of fields that each Synexsys user can choose by selecting them in the other detail tabs. The lower part of the "Summary" tab displays custom fields. The fields that are displayed in this tab are automatically made available in the Queries Section. Creating Objects and Custom Fields. The process for creating new Object types and fields has been made easier and faster than in the previous version. Common Fields - You may define "Common Fields" that will be shared by many Object types. For instance, you may define a common field named "Provider" that could be shared by Objects such as PCs, Printers, and Leasing Contracts while ensuring that other Objects such as Users or Stock are not affected. Among other things, common fields allow creating unique management nomenclatures and handling different types of Objects simultaneously (for example, the providers tree may simultaneously display printers, PCs, and their leasing contract). New Types of Custom Fields. With SXS 3.0 you may create new types of custom fields. You can now use text and rich text fields (that support URLs, etc.), and a new "Tree" type field to create classification trees. Automatic Trees - Every user now has the possibility of creating personal automatic trees that cannot be viewed by other users. Automatic Trees - In version 3.0 you may now hide automatic trees and display only those you wish to work with (by clicking on the tree header, on "Automatic trees - Filter"). Link Trees - A powerfull new function allows you to represent the Objects and their relations (links) in a tree. Objects List - You can now filter the list of Objects and view only those you wish to work with (by clicking on the list header on "Objects"). File Extensions Statistics - Synexsys allows exerting a global control of files by type and locating in each machine which files are the most numerous and which take up more hard disk space. New Audits Query - You may now execute queries on completed audits. New Audit Rules Setup - This new Section can be used to define precisely the aspects that need to be included or excluded from the audits. New Interface - Synexsys 3.0 is equipped with a brand new interface that is, without a doubt, simpler and more comfortable than previous versions. Users may choose to display or hide the icon bar to enlarge the workspace. The major enhancements added to version 3 are also those that are not seen! Inventory handling processes have been optimised over 90%! both in terms of processing time and storage size so audits can be quicker and support the management of over 100,000 PCs. The current processing capacity is more than 25,000 PCs per week. VERSION 2.0.532 - RELEASED June 25, 2004This version contains minor improvements and fixes.
